Elevetor Enlightenment

Making fun of people in and around elevators is so easy, especially for me since I spend a good deal of time in our elevators while running around our various buildings to my meetings. So, this topic comes up quite often, and yet it always seems to deliver a giggle from me.

Today, during the lunch timeframe, I hop on the elevator to meet a friend downstairs for lunch. The elevator was full of people with the same intentions - all heading for the lobby. The elevator stops on the 2nd floor (you know, only one floor up from the lobby), the lady gets on the crowded elevator, she reaches over two people on the elevator causing them to move out her way and then the rest of us to adjust accordingly, just to push the already lit lobby button. Ummmm, hello lady? We're all going to the lobby, you idiot! That's the logical next stop after the 2nd floor, and in case you were wondering, that's why the button was already pushed! Where did you think the rest of us were getting off after stopping on the second floor...floor 1.5? Or did you think we were just holding a meeting in the elevetor?

I had to just smile and shake my head. People's actions crack me up sometimes, especially on elevators.

I had a similar story yesterday. I work in a building with only 4 floors – Several people got in at the 4th floor. You know there is always someone who has to be in control and they make a run for the button controls. That person then says “everyone going down”? Needless to say most of us couldn’t let that one pass in silence.

One can learn so much in just a few floors. Who knew that a moving metal box on a pully would be so important in social interaction.
